SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Purification Operator (Board & Rover) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of LNG Purification systems through both control room (DCS) operation and field execution. This role covers inside and outside operations , including monitoring ISBL purification units from the control room while also performing field rounds, equipment inspections, isolations, and direct support of maintenance and operational activities.
The position is accountable for maintaining feed gas quality within specification, protecting downstream liquefaction equipment, and responding effectively to alarms, upsets, and emergency conditions. Acting as a critical link between the control room and the field, this operator serves as the eyes and ears of the operation and plays a key role during start-ups, shutdowns, and abnormal situations.
This position is in Brownsville, TX and requires disciplined operations, strong situational awareness, and strict adherence to HSSE requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate and monitor all DCS-controlled Purification systems within the ISBL scope, including:
  • Acid Gas Removal (AGR)
  • Dehydration
  • Mercury Removal
  • Associated utilities
  • Maintain feed gas quality within specification to protect downstream cryogenic and liquefaction systems.
  • Monitor critical process parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow, composition, moisture content, and unit performance trends.
  • Identify abnormal conditions early and take corrective action within defined authority limits.
  • Execute unit start-ups, shutdowns, transitions, and upset recovery in accordance with approved operating procedures.
  • Respond promptly and decisively to alarms, trips, and emergency situations.
  • Escalate issues to the Control Room or Shift Supervisor when operating limits are approached or exceeded.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, turnover notes, and operational documentation.
  • Conduct routine field rounds to verify equipment condition and process health.
  • Perform inspections on pumps, compressors, vessels, heat exchangers, valves, piping, and rotating equipment.
  • Identify, report, and respond to abnormal, unsafe, or off-spec conditions in the field.
  • Support start-up, shutdown, and isolation activities under the direction of the Shift Supervisor or Board Operator.
  • Execute field isolations, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and job safety analysis (JSA) verifications.
  • Support maintenance activities through proper equipment preparation, isolation, and return-to-service.
  • Act as the communication bridge between the control room and field personnel.
  • Enforce strict compliance with HSSE policies, permit-to-work requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all operational decisions prioritize personnel safety, asset integrity, and environmental compliance.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with Maintenance, Engineering, HSSE, and Operations Support teams.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities, drills, and site safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to alarm management, operating procedure reviews, and lessons-learned programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve unit reliability, operability, and efficiency-without compromising safety.
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC
  • Minimum 5 years of LNG operations experience, including control room exposure
  • Demonstrated experience operating Purification units (AGR, dehydration, mercury removal)
  • Board Operator qualification in LNG Purification systems at a large-scale LNG facility
  • Strong understanding of LNG purification processes and process safety
  • Proficient with DCS systems and standard computer applications (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and operating procedures
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and situational awareness skills
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and perform essential physical duties, including wearing required PPE.
  • This position requires the candidate to reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility in Brownsville, TX, as commuting is not an option. Relocation assistance will be provided to eligible candidates.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience on mega projects and during Commissioning & Start-Up (CSU) phases
  • Prior experience in hybrid board/field operator roles

* Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

* Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
* Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.

* The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
* Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
* Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
* May be required to enter confined spaces.
* May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
