Tesla's Automation Development team is at the forefront of building innovative automation equipment. This team is designing the next generation of equipment that will allow our operations team to produce amazing vehicles at best in class quality and rate, in a safe and ergonomic environment. We are seeking an Assembly Supervisor to focus on leading our electrical assembly team in Elgin.In this role, the assembly manager will work intimately with the team to manage high visibility projects and will apply technical & leadership skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of the projects.
What You'll Do
- Plan, organize, and manage daily workload and scheduling to ensure efficient execution of operational priorities
- Provide ongoing employee development, coaching, and guidance to support skill growth and team performance
- Maintain a strong understanding of automated equipment used for assembly, inspection, and fabrication, ensuring safe and effective operation
- Troubleshoot and debug equipment by diagnosing issues, determining corrective actions, and performing necessary repairs to restore functionality
- Interpret and apply schematic symbols in JIC or ISO formats with the ability to read and understand complex electrical and mechanical schematics
- Collaborate closely with crossfunctional project teams including Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Assembly, and Project Management to support successful project execution
- Anticipate risks and perform riskmitigation activities, with willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including occasional extended travel as needed
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Automation, Electrical Technology or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 7 years of handson experience building, assembling and supporting automated equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, including creating accurate redlines to document design changes or field modifications
- Strong analytical skills with advanced troubleshooting capability for electrical control systems, including diagnosing faults and implementing effective corrective actions
- Demonstrated proficiency with automation components such as sensors, PLCs, servos, and control panels, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to realworld equipment challenges
- Skilled in managing multiple tasks simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fastpaced environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, enabling productive interaction with engineering teams, technicians, and other crossfunctional stakeholders
