Summary of the Job:

The Solution Architect is responsible for ensuring that technical solutions effectively meet business requirements. This includes designing detailed technical solutions, facilitating crossorganizational discussions to ensure alignment, and ensuring both technical and quality strategies are executed consistently.

About This Role:

We are seeking a Solution Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership across our Credit Card and Point of Sale Lending (POSL) ecosystem. In this role, you will define and guide the future-state architecture for our SaaS and homegrown platforms supporting the credit card lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives, architectural standards, and technology best practices.

Our ecosystem comprises a combination of cloud-native and legacy platforms supporting credit card originations, account servicing, loyalty, fraud, customer communications, partner servicing, and digital channels. This includes event-driven and API-driven applications, real-time decisioning engines, microservices-based components, and integration layers built on AWS and middleware technologies that ensure reliable, scalable, and secure delivery of credit card capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Strategy & Vision

  • Assess the current state of the ecosystem and define a strategic target state architecture for the next 3-5 years.
  • Develop and maintain a modernization roadmap to drive platform scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture and business stakeholders to align platform strategy with business objectives, including actively engaging in architecture guild sessions

Technical Leadership & Delivery Support

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to delivery teams and technical leads across multiple workstreams, including the use of GitLab CI/CD, Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, and automations for repeatable tasks and testing.
  • Mentor and coach team members to improve technical practices and architectural thinking.
  • Ensure robust integration patterns and API strategies using MuleSoft and other integration patterns (event-driven, APIs, secure file exchange).
  • Create detailed solution network architecture designs that align with security standards and operational requirements

Continuous Improvement & Modernization

  • Advocate for and implement best practices in cloud adoption, integration, security, and automation.
  • Evaluate new technologies and solutions to improve the credit card ecosystem.
  • Drive standardization and optimization across the portfolio to reduce technical debt and improve efficiency.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles.
  • Experience integrating SaaS, hosted, and custom-built applications across the credit card lifecycle, including digital servicing, partner connectivity, realtime decisioning, and workflow or document management solutions.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, especially AWS architecture and core services (Lambda, EKS, EC2, IAM, S3, Secrets Manager, PrivateLink, ECR), along with API management and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of GitLab CI/CD, container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), containerization (Docker), and modern service networking patterns (such as service mesh).
  • Expertise with Java, Python, and Spring Boot to design and build microservices, automations, and distributed application components.
  • Experience developing and executing technology roadmaps, modernization strategies, and futurestate architectures.
  • Ability to mentor and guide engineering teams in modern development practices, architectural thinking, and solution design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and business leaders across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to navigate competing priorities and technical opinions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in credit card or payments ecosystems, including partner integrations, transaction processing, fraud/risk systems, or loyalty platforms.
  • Familiarity with event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, EventBridge) and event-driven architectural patterns.
  • Experience with modern API security models (OAuth 2.0, mTLS, tokenization) and secure partner data exchange patterns.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Security models, regulatory expectations (UDAAP, Reg Z, PCI DSS), and compliance frameworks.
Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.
