CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team as a technical leader and mentor in Columbia, SC. In this influential role, you will drive technical quality across major transportation projects, mentor emerging engineers, and contribute to the evolution of safe, efficient, and future ready highway and rail systems.



What You'll Do:

    Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for highway and rail projects
  • Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projects
  • Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions
  • Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
  • Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support
  • Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferred
  • SCDOT experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$115,000 - $130,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
