Job Overview
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for managing and leading the EHS function at our Salt Lake City, UT facility supporting the Medical Device Solutions Business (Flexan), an Ingersoll Rand Business. The role involves providing strategic and tactical direction, leadership, and technical support to improve EHS performance, promote a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement efforts. The specialist will work collaboratively across functions, provide guidance on EHS initiatives, and support other sites and projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and programs ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.
- Deliver safety training to new and existing employees.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify adherence to policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify EHS best practices.
- Implement and manage a Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program to increase employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies, maintaining knowledge of relevant laws.
- Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and stakeholders on EHS matters.
- Track and analyze EHS performance metrics, identifying trends and developing corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop preventive measures.
Requirements
- 1-5 years of progressive EHS experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, CSP, CHMM are a plus.
