Clinical Informatics Spec 3 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the activities related to the development, organization, direction, and promotion of informatics initiatives within IHS to include hospitals, ambulatory clinics, emergency department, continuing medical education programs, in-service events.
  • Directs clinical and operational improvement teams in developing and refining clinical designs, requirements, and workflows.
  • May lead clinical and operational improvement teams. On these teams directs the appropriate documentation clinical designs, requirements, and workflows. Translates these requirements into specification for the IT team. Facilitates stakeholder and governance approval of these designs.
  • Serves as a liaison between health system providers, clinicians, and information system leadership.
  • Facilitates adoption of EMRs and builds relationships with internal and external clinicians to promote technology adoption and clinical practice standards.
  • Works collaboratively across departments and with service line leaders to plan, create, and implement improvements, as well as develop and implement clinical information systems change and proactive business intelligence.
  • Works with a wide range of professionals including multidisciplinary teams, quality assurance, information systems, training personnel and system performance improvement teams, to facilitate and implement change initiatives. Serves as a key liaison to information systems communication to establish priorities and devise targeted approaches for services lines and specific physician concerns.
  • Leverages various communication tools, social media outlets and other methods to collaborate with physician's, physician support staff and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintains up-to-date clinical information system change management databases, evidence-based content, issue tracking tools, and related knowledge bases.
  • May coordinate the development and delivery of educational content and training for internal and external physicians, support staff, and IHS team members in partnership with IHS training team, super users, and other clinical support leaders.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and implements risk mitigating measures as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all position-related requirements.
  • Ensures that IT systems are designed to meet the clinical goals of high reliability care and a seamless experience for patients and providers.
  • Supports system-wide projects and initiatives to ensure that implementation and redesign of IT systems are maximally effective.
  • Maintains in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of theories, practices, procedures, and related technology systems within healthcare informatics and other related disciplines.
  • Solves complex issues and assignments for key stakeholders and technical and troubleshooting support for escalated system issues.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles and/or technical and procedural documentation as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree; OR Associate degree and 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement; OR HS Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement
  • Experience: At least 7 years of relevant healthcare experience AND 5 year Informatics, Business Intelligence or Change Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical experience
  • Experience supporting clinicians with technology in a large hospital setting
  • Experience with Clinical Pathways
  • Strong understanding of the EPIC system
