Job Summary

The Strategy Principal will work closely with enterprise and business leaders to lead processes that set the strategic direction for Westfield. At both the enterprise strategy and competitive business strategy levels, this role will work autonomously to drive strategy processes across strategy development, strategic planning, and special projects. The role communicates process and structure to all parties involved in the strategy lifecycle, leads others through the processes, and provides coaching as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Scopes and executes discrete strategy projects with business leaders across the strategy lifecycle for the competitive business strategies of the insurance businesses and manages the workflow of various cross-functional resources.
  • Leads processes and directs resources to conduct industry trend research, market and competitive analysis, development of new growth opportunities, quantitative analyses, and evaluation of value propositions and competitive advantages to provide recommendations that inform strategic choices.
  • Champions strategy projects in service of reviewing and updating the enterprise strategy and presents to enterprise leadership.
  • Leads the process and cross-functional resources to monitor, evaluate, and analyze external trends and integrates insights into strategy development, strategic planning, and competitive business strategy reviews.
  • Orchestrates critical processes and leads workstreams of resources to support effective strategic planning post-strategy development.
  • Leads business leaders through evaluating inorganic strategy activities including target identification, deal evaluation, deal execution, and post-merger integration.
  • Collaborates with relevant executives to enable the Strategy Committee to assess the execution of competitive business strategies for each insurance business and the performance of non-insurance businesses.
  • Builds relationships with business leaders throughout the strategy lifecycle by ensuring understanding of critical processes and enhancing their strategic mindset capabilities.
  • Provides the Head of Strategy new ideas and perspectives on how to enhance and expand the Strategy function.
  • Assists with managing the Strategy Leads on strategy projects and directing their work.

Job Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in a post-MBA strategy consulting organization or on an internal strategy team is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with relevant strategy development and implementation projects (e.g., competitive analysis, market sizing, growth hypotheses exploration, enterprise mission and vision review, and portfolio strategy).
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field and/or commensurate work experience. Master's degree in business is preferred.

Location

  • Hybrid- defined as working three or more days per week in the office if the employee's residence is within 50 miles of Westfield Center, OH; OR Remote-if the employee resides more than 50 miles from Westfield Center, OH.
