About the Opportunity
Join HDR's Freight Rail Market Sector to lead enterprise geotechnical services for Class 1 railroads. You will shape best practices, guide complex designs, and collaborate across regions to deliver safe, resilient, and cost-effective rail programs.

Value Proposition
Lead at scale while staying hands-on with challenging freight rail problems; grow and mentor a next-generation railroad geotechnics team; and help define HDR's standard for resilient, reliable, and constructible solutions.

What You'll Do
* Serve as a senior technical authority for railroad geotechnics (subgrade, slopes, foundations, geohazards).
* Lead QA/QC, establish playbooks and templates, and mentor teams across regions.
* Partner with Market Sector leadership and CAMs on growth strategies and pursuits.
* Coordinate with civil, structures, hydraulics, environmental, and construction services for integrated delivery.
* Support emergency/rapid-response efforts for geotechnical incidents.

Preferred Qualifications
* PE required; MS in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering preferred.
* 10+ years in geotechnical engineering with railroad or heavy transportation experience.
* Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and client engagement.
* Proficiency with geotechnical analyses and common railroad standards and practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years experience in related field
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
