Fishbeck is seeking a motivated and skilled Bridge Engineer to join our Farmington Hills team. This role is ideal for a civil engineering professional with strong technical capabilities, a commitment to highquality work, and the ability to contribute effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. You will support and lead a variety of bridge design, inspection, and analysis efforts-primarily for MDOT and local municipal clients-while growing your career within an employeeowned firm.


What You'll Do


  • Lead Fishbeck's bridge inspection and scoping efforts across Michigan.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers on structural design, analysis, calculations, plan preparation, and load ratings.
  • Serve as a design engineer for bridge and retaining wall projects.
  • Assist in developing project budgets, schedules, and reports.
  • Apply theoretical and practical civil engineering knowledge using specialized design and analysis software.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary Fishbeck technical staff to deliver comprehensive bridge engineering solutions.
  • Support MDOT and local government clients with design, inspection, and consulting services.


What We're Looking For


  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan preferred.
  • Completion of the FHWA Safety Inspection of InService Bridges (2week course) required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in bridge engineering.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MDOT bridge standards, guidelines, and Qualified Team Leader (QTL) requirements preferred.
  • Experience with bridge inspection and load ratings required.
  • Knowledge of MiBridge and MDOT's Bridge Management and Inspection System preferred.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, bridge design software, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication, technical writing, and computer skills.



Minimum Physical Requirements

Ability to travel to project sites, navigate active field environments, and access bridge structures for inspection. Work may include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and light lifting. Must be able to use standard office equipment, computers, and communication tools. Visual acuity is required to perform design and inspection responsibilities.
