Minimum Qualifications: * D.V.M. (or equivalent) from an AVMA - Accredited School of Veterinary Medicine Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous training and/or experience in laboratory animal medicine. * Previous training and/or experience performing research. Conditions of Employment: * Must be willing and able to frequently lift and carry 50 lbs * Must be willing and able to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs, with or without accommodation. * Must be willing and able to operate moving equipment or work around machinery or moving equipment. * Must be willing and able to euthanize large and small animals * Must be willing and able to sit, stand, walk and reach above shoulders on a constant basis * Must be willing able to work around noise and vibrations * Must be willing and able to work straight or rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. * Must be willing and able to work around hazardous chemicals * Must be willing and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection NOTE: This position has been designated as essential personnel, "Subject to call 24 hours per day, seven days per week" and may be required to carry a communication device. Position may also be required to "Stay over late" or "Come in early" to "Cover" shifts, as needed and may be required to respond to any emergencies as needed. If hired, you will be required to provide effective off-hours phone contact info for emergency call-in purposes. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. * Knowledge of animal husbandry requirements, methods, and techniques. * Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise. * Knowledge of animal surgical techniques. * Ability to assess and treat medical conditions in a wide variety of animals. * Ability to maintain safety and infection control standards. * Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborations and working relationships with a variety of persons, internal and external to the department and institution. * Leadership skills for effective planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation. * Ability to work effectively under general direction or guidelines with minimal supervision. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. |
