The Sales and Market Analyst is a foundational execution role within the Market Analytics team. This analyst produces the performance outputs that the field and leadership depend on such as top sellers, scorecards, and surfacing customer and division opportunities. Extracts and analyzes POS and 3rd-party data. Surfaces signals on market conditions, retailer performance, and competitive moves for assortment, training, and advertising opportunities.

This role supports the market analytics team strategy of building an 'always-on' market and customer intelligence engine, translating the market conditions and sales performance into the next best actions. Success in this role is measured by reliability, speed-to-insight, and the ability to turn data into clear, consistent, Tempur+Sealy branded storytelling that fits into core deliverables such as the Guidebook, Divisional, and Customer reporting.

What You'll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Reporting and analysis so leadership can quickly answer 'what's happening' without questioning the numbers

  • Leaders and bleeders by customer/channel/division, including mix shifts, ARP changes, and share movement.
  • Maintain consistent, repeatable reports and analysis that align to how sale teams communicate performance with customers and within each division.
  • Ensure outputs are on-time, accurate, and decision-ready (not just 'here's the data').
  • Produce views with analysis for customer meetings such as

    • What changed since last month? What are the drivers of that change?
    • Where are we gaining/losing?
    • Which retailer doors are under-indexed premium / over-exposed in value?
    • Track customer and division requests and status in the market analytics' tracking system

POS and market performance analysis that explains the data in plain language to drive action.

  • Analyze POS performance to identify trends across:

    • Units / Sales / ARP
    • Price bands
    • Promotional periods
    • Brand / collection / model performance
    • Store level productivity and performance

  • Analyze and present the data in a 'What / So What / Now What' framework
  • Analyze customer performance and present opportunities to drive their business

Analyzing market conditions and competitive intelligence tied to business implications

  • Analyze and measure brand's performance across markets in the U.S.
  • Identify key market opportunities for brands and product launches
  • Analyze and summarize competitor activity such as pricing, tech and specs, placement, promos, assortment changes, advertising, traffic, claims/positioning, launches, company news and strategy.
  • Join and analyze disparate data for market intelligence

Generate Guidebook ready insights such as

  • Macro and industry conditions (headwinds / tailwinds)
  • Performance highlights - What's winning and why?
  • Opportunity callouts and where to lean in

Contribute to the future-state vision by improving inputs and repeatability

  • Support dashboard requirements gathering, dataset prep, and testing.
  • Maintain consistency between dashboards and 'one-off' analysis so leadership sees one version of truth.
  • Assist in packaging recurring insights into reusable formats that can be automated.
  • Support future state AI initiatives (e.g., AI-assisted summarization, competitive intelligence, product comparisons, insight generation, and "next best action" concepts) by ensuring the underlying data is clean and structured.
  • Build/maintain clean data dictionaries and reference tables
  • Perform QA checks, reconcile differences, and document definitions so reporting is defensible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need (Qualifications):

  • BS/BA in analytics, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related field
  • 3+ years in analytics
  • Working proficiency in tools such as

    • Excel
    • SQL
    • Power BI / Tableau
    • Python/R

  • Experience with POS data, retail/category analytics, or durable goods is a plus.
  • Ability to travel when needed for divisional meetings, customer meetings, and furniture markets (estimated 15%)
