Global Mobility Specialist III

Location: Austin, TX or Albany, NY

This position seeks an experienced corporate global mobility professional that will focus on expat management and relocation. The person will sit at our downtown Austin office, working on a hybrid schedule.

The Global Mobility Specialist III (GMS) will support all global mobility matters for US hires and TEL's expat population. This individual will be leading matters related to international transfer services including assignment coordination, regulatory immigration requirements, while engaging both internal and external stakeholders, managing the administration of HR global mobility processes for expat and local hires requiring relocation. The GMS III fully understands the employee global mobility life cycle, implications of changes throughout it, and can make recommendations for solutions and process improvements, using judgement and strategic initiative, to both internal HR global mobility and operational processes as well as to external global mobility vendor processes (RMC, tax, and immigration vendors).

Day to Day (Responsibilities):

  • Acts as a global mobility SME and coordinates HR/Global Mobility activities for expatriate and inpatriate employee population with a high concentration of expat management.
  • Ownership of employee files that are part of the global mobility program (assignments or one way moves) through the entire mobility life cycle.
  • Consults with expatriate employees/managers and leads various global mobility processes as needed within the global mobility team.
  • Advises business leaders & HR peers regarding expatriate programs, including immigration requirements/compliance, employment conditions, taxation implications, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and local employment regulations.
  • Practices a sense of collaboration, building strong relationships within the team, and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partners with immigration law firm, RMC, and tax provider to ensure compliance with Company policy to recommend and secure proper documentation and processes for inpatriates, local hires and business travelers.
  • Responsible for organization of global mobility data management & maintenance through client's databases as well as internal HR databases.
  • Leads various Global Mobility projects
  • Oversees global mobility assignments and One Way relocation processes, coordination & documentation.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Must Haves (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, international business or in a related field. In lieu of education, 4 additional years of corporate global mobility experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an in-house global mobility program that includes expatriate management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage global mobility lifecycle processes to include cost estimates, consultations to management and potential relocating employees, mobility vendor management and documentation.
  • Experience in US immigration & business travel visas
  • Familiarity with international work & business visas (experience with global visas/work permits from non-US countries)
  • 2+ years of experience in global mobility data management with mobility platforms (Equus preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience managing global mobility vendors (immigration firm, tax firm, or RMC)
  • English language proficiency; Japanese bilingual a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/OneNote)
  • Must have excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide consultations to employees and managers of all levels
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including data analysis abilities
  • Excelling ability to prioritize workload, proficient in time management, be self-directed, and have excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of geography & geopolitical developments relating to global mobility
  • Advanced International exposure and highly developed sensitivity and cultural awareness
  • Ability to exercise and maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Proven ability to build business relationships throughout an organization

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
