The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for receptionist duties for all staff, patients and visitors for the Division of Vascular Surgery. The Medical Office Assistant will provide support services in patient insurance, billing and account maintenance under direct supervision of the Director of Administrative Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs data entry, entering patient information in to the computerized patient care systems, particularly records and automated billing assuring accuracy of data entered for insurance/demographic information only.
  • Assists surgery financial clearance team in obtaining insurance information from patients and obtaining insurance authorizations.
  • Operates office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, fax machine, and uses word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records.
  • Works independently in monitoring work queues and/or outlook calendars.
  • Responsible for the coordination of patient appointments, including scheduling appointments and contacting patients.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
