The role:

The Head of Entegris Ventures (Corporate Venture Capital) position will partner with the Divisions/BU business development and ER&D/technology teams as well as with the New Markets Development & Chief Technology Strategy Office teams to identify equity investment opportunities in emerging computing materials technologies and in existing front-end & advanced packaging Semiconductor markets served by Entegris.

This senior strategic leadership position will have tremendous visibility within the company withresponsibility over the strategy definition, validation, diligence, execution and supervision of a diverse investment portfolio that will drive continued growth for the organization. This position will drive toward an ambition to boost Entegris mid-term growth; with investments in promising start-ups amounting to approximately $100m over 4-5years.

What you'll do:

  • Collaboration - Work in close collaboration with Business Development & Technology/ER&D teams in Corporate Functions and in Divisions/BUs to develop equity investment strategies, target identification, source deals and build pipeline.

  • Venture Sourcing - Proactively network internally and externally to identify new opportunities, and early-stage startup sourcing. Manage relationships with stakeholders across the venture capital network to drive partnerships across a diverse channel of partners including universities & innovation ecosystems in US/Asia/Europe; and with funds, VCs, and CVCs already operating in targeted Semicon/Tech markets (separation/filtration/purification/contamination control technologies, yield-enhancing technologies, semi-conductor front-end & advanced packaging materials, advanced coatings, thermal interface materials, novel substrate materials etc.). Leverage the state-of-the-art innovations and technologies to curate a continual stream of startup formation.

  • Screening & Engagement strategy - Drive the strategy, risks assessment, engagement, and investment in select mid-stage (A/B round) Venture Capital opportunities that align with our focused materials science innovation, go-to-market approaches, unit-driven business model, sustainability and PACE values.

  • Value-creation/Partnerships - Lead venture capital partnerships definition, as well as ensure value creation for Entegris BUs (in existing Semi Market) and New Market Development units (in new Electronics Markets) so that sustainable value creation from these partnerships is tracked for both the start-ups and Entegris BUs/SBUs (go-to-market agreements, JDPs etc.)

  • Management of investment portfolio - Manage directly or supervise through a team of portfolio managers the portfolio of Entegris equity investments, ensure alignment with governance, representation of Entegris interests at board of invested start-ups.

  • Value delivery - Set and refine the investment strategy by helping define the focus of investments, financing and define clear Exit strategies (including IPO or acquisition) that ensure financial value creation for the investments and for Entegris as a whole.

  • Communication/Reporting - Regularly provide updates to SVP Strategy & Innovation, Chief Technology Strategist, Division Technology/ER&D VPs (in the monthly Ventures IC); and to the CEO, CFO, GC and ELT executives (and/or to Fund Board as relevant) on an ad hoc basis. Regularly provide key updates to key division/BU stakeholders on the overall health of the portfolio and value creation derived for Entegris from the investments.

  • Work collaboratively cross-functionally to ensure success of new invested companies

What we seek:

  • Masters degree in Technology, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering, complemented with MBA; Or Masters degree in business, accounting, strategy with strong technology depth

  • 10 years of work experience in High Technology Industry, Business Development or Finance desired

  • 3-5 years demonstrated venture capital investing is must have with a track record demonstrating successful investments negotiation/closure/value creation; ideally in Semiconductor or Electronic Materials

  • Successful business development complementary experience desired, alongside M&A track record

  • Strong understanding or direct experience in corporate venture capital required

  • Strong data, analytics, technology experience and understanding

  • Financial modeling and superior analytical skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding attitude, strong work ethic, and proactive, with the ability to multi-task and balance priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

  • Compensation: $220,000.00 - $280,000.00 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
