Overview

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Technical Writer III performs document-related functions, including but not limited to the processing of Engineering Change Orders, as well as maintaining documentation in accordance with ISO 13485 and Werfen policies and procedures. Under limited supervision, responsible for writing and illustrating both electronic and hardcopy documentation for product manufacturing, troubleshooting and service manuals, according to industry standard utilizing state of the art desktop publishing tools. Under limited supervision work with development, transfer and manufacturing engineers to generate instrument manufacturing documentation, work instruction, bills of materials and routings.

Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
  • Create precise and clear technical documentation for building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex products and equipment.
  • Generate and maintain bills of materials and routings under engineering direction.
  • Generate and maintain detailed technical specifications utilizing state of the art desktop publishing tools, 3D CAD, and digital photos, under engineering direction.
  • Perform simple calculations using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Work with Development and Manufacturing engineers, production managers and operators to obtain the required technical information such as product and module.
  • Assembly, test and diagnosis techniques.
  • Develop and prepare reports and spreadsheets to track material procurements and transfers under engineering supervision.
  • Generate engineering Change Orders with Engineering guidance and administrate the approval cycle.
  • Assist with periodic review of manufacturing documentations.

Skills & Capabilities:
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with a personal computer and MS Office software packages.
  • Familiarity with Desktop Publishing Tools and formats such as PDF and HTML
  • Excellent communication skills and English proficiency
  • Knowledge of Quality standards (e.g. ISO 13485)
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Self- motivated and adaptable to change
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Liberal Arts required. Equivalent experience will be accepted.
  • 4+ years of experience as a technical writer or related experience required
