Position Announcement

Under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, a full-time custodian for housing completes custodial maintenance of assigned housing buildings on campus. Custodians oversee and train part-time and student custodial workers to assist in the cleaning and maintenance of campus buildings. Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain floors in buildings by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and shampooing carpets.
  • Supervise and train part-time custodians and student help in proper and safe procedures.
  • Clean and supply restrooms, using germicidal detergents and acid cleaners.
  • Clean and maintain entrances to buildings, and perimeter of buildings (approximately 10 feet), such as trash pick-up, removal of gum, graffiti, cobwebs, etc.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage.
  • Wash windows and window frames. Wash walls, chalkboards, furniture, removing chewing gum, smudges, black marks, graffiti, etc.
  • Clean living units after check-outs, as needed.
  • Clean areas that have failed monthly cleaning inspections inside students' living units.
  • Assist with summer conferences cleaning and maintenance, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • One-year experience preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of custodial services, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and train others.
  • Considerable knowledge of tools and commercial-grade equipment used in custodial services, such as strippers, buffers, and wet/dry vacuums.
  • Ability to exercise human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students, employees, and the public.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time overtime-exempt executive staff position. Annual salary of $36,000, with a desired start date of April 2026.
