Under general supervision of the ASC Director or ASC Supervisor, provide day-to-day oversight of operations and insures that the department runs smoothly. Is responsible for the care and safety of the patients within the ambulatory surgery center and assists with the supervision of professional and nonprofessional personnel in the ASC.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Duties
    • Responsible for patient case management. Coordinates nursing and patient care activities within the department and with other clinical departments to provide efficient, comprehensive and cost-effective patient care
    • Coordinates, communicates, and oversees the ongoing delivery of patient care services provided by members of assigned team members; considers patient acuity and the competencies of team members in delegating and assigning work and in adjusting assignments as necessary
    • Serves as the "floor leader" and supervises patient flow as well as the daily patient care activities of the area
    • Provides oversight/management of non-patient care areas as applicable (e.g., endoscope reprocessing, central supply/SPD)
    • Serves as a leader and resource providing orientation and education; coaches teammates on service excellence
    • Participates in quality assessment/performance improvement (QAPI) projects
    • Provides input on performance evaluations, hiring decisions, and disciplinary actions
    • Participates in development of department goals
    • Investigates patient concerns and informs Supervisor or appropriate Management Team member of issues requiring further attention
    • Oversees schedules and PTO requests
    • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly huddles and communication related to DMS
  • Clinical Duties
    • Assesses the health status of the patient in order to develop an individualized plan of care by collecting, categorizing and interpreting data (physical and psychosocial) from documented information, observation, patient/family interview and other health care team members
    • Develops and implements a nursing care plan based on the assessment of the patient that included nursing diagnosis, patient goals and nursing interventions necessary to achieve these goals
    • Communicates any necessary information and instructs the patient and family to assist the patient in the achievement of optimal health status
    • Documents nursing activities to provide a permanent record, for continuity of care, quality improvement and professional accountability
    • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care to determine degree of goal attainment by comparing patient outcomes with patient goals
    • Contributes to the discharge plan
    • Executes nursing activities to provide life support in an emergency by taking appropriate action and/or providing direction/assistance to health care team members
    • Administers medications and other modalities within the scope of practice as a Registered Nurse
    • Participates in educational programs to enhance nursing knowledge

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Nursing
  • Current State Registered Nurse License
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • 2+ years of nursing experience in area of responsibility (e.g., POH/PACU; operating room; GI endoscopy)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • PALS certification; may be required after hire
  • Certification in area of responsibility (e.g., AORN, CAPA, CPAN, SGNA)
  • Membership in professional organization representing area of responsibility (e.g., Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN), American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), or Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 to $107,400 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
