SWS is seeking a motivated Junior Trader to support our Municipal Sales & Trading desk, working in-office from its NYC headquarters on Wall Street. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong aptitude for learning quickly, a keen interest in advancing within a trading floor environment, robust analytical skills with data, and a genuine enthusiasm for fixed income markets. They will have 1+ years of relevant municipal / fixed income securities experience. This position requires a strong proficiency in technology and the ability to work confidently with various technological tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist salespeople and traders with daily desk operations
  • Prepare and distribute daily reports, pricing runs, and market data
  • Maintain and organize account info, trade details, and internal reports
  • Support trade execution workflow and customer communication
  • Work heavily in Bloomberg, Excel and other desk systems
  • Assist with client relationship management

Qualifications:

  • SIE, Series 7 and 63 licenses highly preferred or must be obtained within 60 days of date of hire
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant municipal / fixed income securities experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or similar field
  • Strong Excel skills and general computer proficiency (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills (verbal: confident, clear, audience-specific; active listener); (written: concise, clarity))
  • Entrepreneurial

We are Committed to Fair Pay. At SWS, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target fixed compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will be determined by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
