JOB SUMMARY The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injuries and assists with nursing tasks in the Student Health Center. This position works effectively with patients and families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs radiographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed provider Operates Digital Radiography (DR) equipment Determines proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure time Positions and instructs patients according to the proper treatment procedures Ensures radiologist review is signed and properly uploaded into Electronic Health Record (EHR) Takes vital signs to assist with rooming patients Calls patients to schedule X-Rays if requested by provider and follows up with results Ensures all maintenance and physicist reviews are completed on the machine Performs EKG examinations Maintains venipuncture and lab collections Orders supplies as needed Cleans lab equipment and autoclave use Maintains vaccine compliance in the electronic database Gives immunizations Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of radiographic principles, anatomy, positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation protection standards Knowledge of digital radiography (DR) systems and image quality standards Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical office operations Strong interpersonal/human relations skills Strong communication skills Strong organization skills Ability to efficiently multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to work effectively and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary staff Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail under time constraints
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Two or more years of related work experience Certification in Radiologic Technologywithin 6 months of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Certification or documented competency in EKG performance, venipuncture, and immunization administration
