Technical Writer, Configuration Management
Overview
We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop, manage, and maintain accurate, compliant technical documentation for aerospace systems and programs. This role supports formal configuration management processes, ensuring documentation aligns with approved designs, engineering changes, and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain aerospace technical documentation, including:
- Maintenance and service documentation
- Operating procedures and work instructions
- Engineering specifications and technical reports
- Test procedures, test reports, and validation documentation
- Safety, compliance, and certification artifacts
- Manage documentation within a formal configuration management (CM) framework
- Ensure documentation aligns with approved configurations, baselines, and revisions
- Process and track document changes through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECNs/ECRs)
- Maintain document version control, revision history, and traceability
- Apply and enforce applicable aerospace and quality standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA/EASA, DoD as applicable)
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program teams
- Support internal and external audits, certifications, and customer reviews
- Ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Technical Writer in aerospace, defense, aviation, or a regulated engineering environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while tracking multiple tasks
- Strong understanding of configuration management and change control processes
- Proven experience managing controlled documents and baselines
- Excellent technical writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Ability to understand engineering documentation and technical data
- Expertise with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field
- Experience working under FAA/EASA, DoD, or AS9100 requirements
- Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and lifecycle data management
- Familiarity with US Military Standards for testing (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc.)
- Experience with documentation and lifecycle management tools (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter)
Nice to Have
- Experience with requirements traceability and verification documentation
- Background in quality, compliance, or audit support
- Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems

Pay Range: $75,000 - 100,000 / year
This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.
