About the opportunity

Do you thrive in the pursuit of ensuring excellence? SWCA Environmental Consultants is expanding their Technology team and looking for a dynamic individual who is following their passion in delivering the highest-quality project work. The Technology Purchasing Buyer position will support our 1,800+ employees across the entire company.

This person acts as a persuasive, encouraging, and diplomatic part of the technology team responsible for purchasing goods and services for SWCA. You will use your strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and relationship skills, to conduct purchasing efforts for the best fit and cost. You will also build new and maintain ongoing, potential, and expiring vendor relationships. This is a full-time, salaried, permanent, and benefits eligible position. Those located in the Denver area are encouraged to apply.

What you will accomplish

  • Processes requests and places orders for hardware and software.
  • Develops, establishes, implements, and enforces supplier and outsourcer guidelines, obligations, and service level agreements to the organization.
  • Complies with all purchasing policies and procedures and act in accordance with SWCA technology and company standards.
  • Identifies, establishes relationships with, and sets up new suppliers to secure cost-effective sources and supplier options for products and services.
  • Negotiates pricing, terms and conditions of sale, and warranties of goods and products with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Coordinates with other Technology Services teams to execute asset management for hardware and software.
  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and changes, adheres to spending guidelines.
  • Delivers purchasing and inventory reports.
  • Monitors vendor, service provider, outsourcer, and/or contractor performance to ensure quality of service.
  • Provides periodic oversight and execution of vendor requalification.
  • Manages and track equipment recycling/destruction in accordance with organizational and departmental standards.
  • Conducts scheduled planning and forecasting cycles for hardware and software asset lifecycle management.
  • Reconciles procurement records across various systems to ensure accuracy through the procurement lifecycle.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • University degree or college diploma in Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years direct work experience in a technology purchasing or procurement capacity.
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, hardware and software - Microsoft and common cloud platforms a plus (Zoom, Smartsheet, Okta etc).
  • Experience with contract management.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Adept at conducting research into product and service-related issues.
  • General knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing, asset management, and logistics.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, teammates, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity and technical competence with financial management and ITIL software.

Additional Information:

  • Able to travel up to 10%.
  • Ability to commute to a local office location when necessary.

An employee in this corporate based position can expect an annual salary of $79,000.00-$104,457.00/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
