A Day in the Life:

Bunge is hiring several Plant Mechanics for our Destrehan soybean processing facility. The Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the processing facility, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and instruments. They must actively participate in Bunge's employee safety policy and maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees. Additionally, this role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system, and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.

Position Details:

Schedules: Some will be on a 12-hour rotating shift, and some will be on a Monday through Friday shift.

  • 12-hour rotating shifts: 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am. Overtime, call-out availability, weekends/holidays, and an on-call rotation are required.
  • Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Pay: $31.00 an hour

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Preventative maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement of plant equipment
  • Operation of various hand tools and power tools
  • Using measurement devices, including calipers, pi tapes, and micrometers
  • Welding and cutting using a torch: tig, mig, stick-on piping and structural
  • Rigging and using cables and slings
  • Sheet metal layouts
  • Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts
  • Alignment of coupling between two inputs
  • Parts lubrication and other maintenance tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Millwright/Mechanic experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate degree and/or technical certification
  • Welding and cutting using a torch
