Candidate will provide Accounting support for the team at Proceed Finance. Candidate will have oversight on accounting financial system processing, including resulting accounting entries fed to the general ledger and financial databases. Candidate will also provide support for the Financial Close Process and assist with audit support. Candidate will need to develop both technical and accounting expertise of the banking and financial services industry. Candidates will also work with and provide support to other Financial Reporting and Regulatory areas, and both upstream and downstream customers and business areas.

Opportunity to develop in depth knowledge of critical accounting systems, from both an accounting/financial perspective and a technical data perspective within a major health Insurance company. Excellent visibility into the impact your work has to internal and external customers. Use more than one major skill set in one role. Candidate will learn and apply Finance/Accounting knowledge and technical experience to resolve issues and improve processes impacting general ledger, subledger and reporting. The ability to impact a valuable area of our business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior periods
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, including data consolidation, modeling, and scenario planning
  • Maintain and update financial models to support decision making and assess business performance
  • Analyze trends in revenues, expenses, and operational metrics to identify opportunities and risks
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation, accruals, and account reconciliation
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to accounting leadership and business partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, HR, procurement) to gather inputs and validate financial data
  • Support audit requirements by preparing schedules and responding to internal/external audit requests
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems, reports, and analyses
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards or reporting tools as needed
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing reporting efficiency, accuracy, and automation
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports to support strategic initiatives and leadership inquiries

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related business field
  • 3+ years of banking experience or financial regulations and compliance
  • 3+ years of accounting related experience including month-end close
  • 3+ years of financial reporting and analysis
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing and evaluating budgets and financial models
  • Experience in consumer lending, credit risk, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven solid knowledge of GAAP, and financial modeling
  • Local to or willing to relocate to Lincoln, NE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare or patient financing industry
  • Experience with financial technology and digital payment solutions
  • Proficiency in financial systems and data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Excel)
  • Proven excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with querying large data sets. Understanding of SAS and/or SQL programming
  • Experience working with both IT and Accounting personnel
  • Experience working on projects and performing testing
  • Solid understanding of accounting and ability to leverage that knowledge
  • Ability to understand systems flows and interdependencies
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel with ability to learn additional data access skills/languages
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality results
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
