The Technical Manager will be responsible for:
- Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Assign task and evaluate performance of direct reports (internal/external). Perform resource management including timesheets and expense report approval.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of vehicle program, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, deliverables, and project timelines, ensuring seamless integration and execution.
- Technical Guidance: Conduct regular project reviews, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting, and support to the engineering team.
- Communication: Understand and follow departments business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission and continually communicate that to direct reports.
- Strategic Planning: Work with Director to participate in departments resource planning, goal setting and road map or engineering footprint creation.
- Technical Specification: Assist engineers in generating detailed system and sub-system technical specifications (SSTS/TTS) to ensure functional objectives are met.
- Problem Solving: Assist the team in identifying the root cause of the issue and collaborative problem-solving. Work closely with suppliers to develop and implement effective technical solutions, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Total Warranty Cost Reduction and value optimization: Collaborate with teams to identify areas of improvement to reduce total warranty cost and propose technical solutions.
- DFSS: Lead initiatives to integrate DFSS principles into project workflows, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the engineering team. Maintain and track progress of the DFSS candidates within the department.
- Innovation & Trends: Stay updated with new technologies, market trends to drive innovation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
- 10 years of experience working in automotive industry for Driveline, Axle or Gear reducer fields.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven track record for other behavior skills like ownership mindset, accountability, adaptability to changing requirements, driving for results, motivating team and action oriented while focusing on speed and efficiency
- Strong technical knowledge of working principles of gear reducer, power transfer units and rear drive modules and sub-system/component testing procedures
- Prefer DFSS Black Belt Certified
- Understanding of root cause analysis tools like fish bone analysis, Is-Is not, 3L5Y, Red X, etc.
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

- Master's Degree in Engineering or related degree field
