Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of the position is to design and deliver engaging, hands-on math instruction that strengthens elementary and middle school students' foundational math skills while building confidence and curiosity in mathematics.
Work Hours:
Day Camp: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. |
| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
Focused on the needs of a variety of traditional and non-traditional learners, the Extended Campus unit proactively engages the N.C. A&T community and external collaborators to actuate a bold, transformative education strategy to create online, professional, and lifelong learning opportunities, helping ensure A&T's preeminence within a changing higher education landscape. |
| Minimum Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field. Prior experience with
STEM summer camps, math clubs, or enrichment programs. |
| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
Three (3) years of experience working with elementary or middle school.Demonstrated familiarity with North Carolina Mathematics Standards, particularly foundational skills in number sense, operations, fractions, measurement, and geometry.
* Experience using hands-on, inquiry-based, or project-based learning activities to support math instruction.
Skills and Competencies
* Ability to design and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate math activities that promote conceptual understanding and problem-solving.
* Strong classroom management skills in a camp or enrichment environment.
* Ability to encourage collaboration, mathematical reasoning, and student confidence.
* Clear communication skills and a positive, supportive approach to working with students. |

North Carolina teaching license in Elementary Education or Middle Grades Mathematics
preferred.
