Position Summary: The Sr. Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting supports the broader organization interfacing with Corporate Finance, Product Management, and Manufacturing supporting monthly closing, financial reporting, and cost analysis. In addition to their analytical responsibilities, they contribute to Continuous Improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance accuracy, and improve reporting efficiency, supporting the organization's ability to scale effectively as the business grows. This position requires 7+ years of experience, within a manufacturing company, at a matrixed (multiple business units/plants) product-driven company. Strong plant/operational accounting experience is required. The Sr. Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting collaborates with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Procurement, R&D, Finance, and members from the SIG leadership team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Prepare monthly elemental cost reports, highlighting key margin variances and trends.
  • Cost analysis in support of emerging technologies collaborating with Engineering and Product Management.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and other departments to analyze production processes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement process improvements.
  • Perform variance analysis from First Article through maturity in standard production, across multiple manufacturing locations, for all new product introductions.
  • Maintain new product(s) BOM's/Routings while working with Product Management, R&D, and Engineering to ensure on-going accuracy and reasonableness based on available manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in developing Annual Labor and Overhead Rate calculations. Monitor actual Labor and Overhead performance against budgeted costs and provide timely and insightful variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting models to facilitate accurate costing of products. Conduct detailed analysis of product costs, including direct materials, labor, OSP, and overheads. Assist in the development of annual operating budgets, incorporating cost projections and margin reviews. Support transition of average costing to standard costing.
  • Support various ad hoc requests from the Finance leadership team.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits as required.
  • Work with Operations management at all facilities in the performance of their duties - providing Oracle expertise around resource, overhead, department structure, and associations.
  • Implement robust internal controls to safeguard the integrity of cost accounting data.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required, Masters degree preferred. 7+ years of Finance/Accounting experience, within a manufacturing company, at a matrixed (multiple business units/plants) product-driven company. Strong plant/operational accounting experience is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Prior experience within automotive, defense, or aerospace industry is a plus.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and self-directed with the ability to relate to all levels of an organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel working with large sets of data. Prior experience Hyperion or similar planning tool (OneStream, TM1, Profix) required. Experience w/ with ERP Systems (Oracle or similar), GLWAND preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Able to mentor less experienced Cost Analysts.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills. Identify root causes of recurring issues and propose preventive solutions.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
