We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our team. This role is responsible for leading plant-level food safety and quality activities, supervising QA Technicians, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in food manufacturing quality systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support safe, compliant, and high-quality production.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct Quality Assurance Technicians, including scheduling and providing coverage during absences of key personnel.
  • Oversee all in-plant food safety and quality activities, including food safety training programs.
  • Monitor and verify HACCP critical control points daily and support development, review, and updates to HACCP plans in coordination with the QA Manager.
  • Investigate customer complaints and assist with implementing corrective actions to eliminate root causes.
  • Verify labeling, date coding, packaging accuracy, and product compliance with specifications.
  • Evaluate organoleptic attributes (taste, texture, appearance, smell) to ensure products meet established standards.
  • Assist in maintaining Child Nutrition (CN) programs and certification requirements.
  • Support relationships with regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, WDATCP, etc.) and stay current on regulatory changes impacting products and processes.
  • Continuously evaluate plant processes to identify risks and opportunities for improvement related to food safety and quality.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures (SOPs, SSOPs) to improve food safety, sanitation, and operational performance.
  • Support documentation and compliance for certifications including GFSI (SQF), FSMA, CN, Organic, and other programs.
  • Assist with oversight of the sanitation program and coordination with the Sanitation Supervisor.
  • Support product sampling, environmental monitoring (EMP), and other testing programs per company procedures.
  • Participate in training and development initiatives for QA staff.
  • Perform additional duties related to food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation as assigned.



Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of food plant sanitation programs and processes.
  • Knowledge of microbiological testing and analyses.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and math skills.


Preferred

  • Experience managing or scheduling QA Technicians in a food manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • PCQI certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • SQF certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Bilingual Spanish skills preferred.



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk throughout all plant areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and step stools as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 30-40 pounds.
  • Visual and sensory acuity required to detect food safety and quality variations in products (appearance, smell, texture, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and conditions.
