Job Description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is one of the most technically advanced designers and manufacturers of lightweight composite aerospace structures, subassemblies and components. Engineered Composites, a leading aerospace company. As the Shipping Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations and maintenance of our aerospace shipping equipment and systems. You will lead a team of technicians, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency while maintaining compliance with all industry regulations and standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in aerospace technology, logistics, and troubleshooting.


Job Responsibilities



  • Leadership & Supervision:


    • Lead and manage a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
    • Ensure technicians follow company protocols and procedures, and provide ongoing support for complex technical issues.
    • Oversee the daily technical operations of the department, including resource allocation, and task prioritization.


  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:


    • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to aerospace transport systems, handling repairs in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure that systems and equipment are running efficiently and safely.


  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:


    • Ensure all systems, equipment, and repairs meet regulatory standards and company quality requirements.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and processes to identify and resolve issues proactively.
    • Maintain proper documentation for all maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades in compliance with aerospace regulations.


  • Collaboration & Communication:


    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, logistics, and operations) to optimize shipping systems and processes.
    • Provide technical insights to senior management regarding the status of equipment and potential improvements.
    • Facilitate training sessions and share best practices with technicians to maintain a high standard of operational excellence.


  • Project Management:


    • Lead or participate in technical projects, including system upgrades, installations, and new technology implementation.
    • Plan and manage the scheduling of routine maintenance and system checks to minimize operational downtime.


  • Safety:


    • Ensure all activities are performed safely, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards.
    • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring proper training and safety gear are provided to all technicians.

Experience/Education/Skills



    • Education:


      • High school diploma or equivalent.


    • Experience:


      • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or lead technician role, with a proven track record of managing teams and projects. (is preferred)


    • Soft Skills:


      • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
      • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.



    Physical Requirements:



    • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 LBs.
    • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (e.g., indoor/outdoor, noise, temperature variations).
    • Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
