We are looking for an early-career Software Engineer who is curious and collaborative with a penchant for learning and excellence. The role would expect to apply the principles of secure software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of software and cloud infrastructure. You would work cross functionally to understand business requirements, architecture and technology direction, evaluate feasible approaches and ensure software and systems are designed and developed accordingly. The position emphasizes strong software craftsmanship, AI-assisted development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. You would apply Agile principles to software development with a focus on delivery of business value, collaboration, innovation and sustainability.
What You'll Do:
- Gain familiarity with and apply Software Engineering concepts, practices and methodologies to Product features.
- Write clear, testable code; add unit/integration tests; participate in code reviews; and help debug production issues with guidance.
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and fellow Engineers in Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, planning, daily stand ups, demos, retros).
- Design and implementation of APIs, services, system tasks and cloud solutions.
- Be able to quickly understand existing complicated systems and enhance performance and reliability of current solutions along with modernization.
- Maintain Cox Automotive's position as an industry leader by exploring new technologies, languages, and techniques in the rapidly evolving software engineering landscape.
- Understand and maintain database systems and write efficient application SQL queries.
- Ensure all documentation and knowledge bases are updated to help good collaboration within and outside of our group.
- Be in the forefront of AI-adoption by championing the usage of secure AI assisted tooling for automation, diagnostics, analysis and quality related tasks.
- Use AI as a force multiplier by applying approved AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) through efficient prompt engineering for scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and documentation, while adhering to our usage guidelines and responsible-AI expectations.
- Participate in the team's Production support on-call rotation.
- Interface with offshore teams and be able to clearly articulate requirements, procure feedback and partner for shared success.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years' experience in a related field.

- Strong skills in analytical thinking, requirements analysis, software installation and support, system and technology integration, and technical troubleshooting.

- Demonstrated curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn new technologies and best practices.
- Basic working experience with programming languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, etc. and Database systems using query languages like SQL, PL/SQL etc.
- Experience building and calling RESTful APIs; basic understanding of testing frameworks (PyTest, etc.). Knowledge about GraphQL a plus.
- Familiarity with Git/version control and awareness of CI/CD pipelines.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud services (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform/CDK), containers (Docker), and observability tools (logs/metrics/traces).
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and practices.
- Ability to participate in debugging, incident follow-up, and basic observability activities with understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting concepts.
- A team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within an engineering team.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $88,800.00 - $133,200.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
