Description

Markon is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and modernization of complex technical systems within a secure enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering expertise across cloud, data architecture, and infrastructure environments, and will thrive in a collaborative, mission-focused setting.



Responsibilities

    Analyze and evaluate technical systems, architectures, and development processes
  • Provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle, including design, engineering, configuration, testing, execution analysis, and performance optimization
  • Assist in establishing and executing processes for system definition, development, operations, and lifecycle management
  • Expand and enhance existing systems to support new capabilities and improve operational workflows
  • Help define and implement systems engineering standards and best practices
  • Interface with Government engineering labs and contractors to support system integration efforts (including data conditioning and Linux data schema alignment for ingestion)
  • Support strategic planning for system and technology evolution
  • Participate in architecture working groups, Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), and other technical forums
  • Design, optimize, administer, and manage private and hybrid cloud environments
  • Implement emerging cloud technologies, including:
    • Server and network virtualization
    • Virtual network appliances
    • Cloud management platforms
  • Design and implement data management systems in cloud environments


Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph
  • 10-14 years of relevant systems engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in collaborative environments and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows systems, including Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, SSH, remote desktop services, and command-line tools
  • Experience with cloud architecture and integration (e.g., AWS or similar cloud platforms)
  • Experience designing and deploying physical, virtualized, and cloud-based infrastructure solutions
  • Experience architecting end-to-end data flow and data management systems
  • Experience supporting data center architecture, consolidation, optimization, and administration in private and hybrid cloud environments
  • Hands-on experience with physical and virtualized infrastructure (e.g., Proxmox, AWS)
  • Knowledge of network topology, protocols, and troubleshooting in Windows/Linux environments
  • Understanding of data transfer protocols such as FTP, SFTP, TFTP, HTTP, and HTTPS
  • Experience developing both program-level and user-level documentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) policies (e.g., ICD 503)
  • Experience supporting secure environments and implementing data encryption solutions
  • Experience supporting the full DevOps lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, compliance scanning, and test-driven development
  • Experience working in Agile development environments


Salary Range

USD $190,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr.

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
