This individual is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for quality and patient safety within the Department of Nursing and organization through the design, coordination, implementation and sustainment of initiatives to support a culture of safety and improved outcomes. This role largely leads through influence engaging with other disciplines to drive outcomes. This individual will be a leader, facilitator or member of a number of committees including: Workplace Violence Prevention, Nursing Quality and Safety Council, Event Review Committee, Patient Experience, Zero Harm, Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury Prevention Committee, etc. If this challenging work excites you please apply!

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of resources (staff, operations and capital) to numerous departments within the Department of Nursing Quality & Safety: Nursing Quality and Safety, Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing and the WISH Program.

  • Participates in the development and communication of the Department of Nursing's strategic vision, plan, objectives, and programs that support quality and safety initiatives.

  • Provides nursing leadership in organizational quality and safety related initiatives.

  • Serves as an internal consultant to nursing staff, nurse and organizational leaders, and other key stakeholders in promoting a culture of safety and implementing evidence-based practices that improve outcomes.

  • Mentors nurse and organization leaders, clinical nurses and others in identifying and managing improvement opportunities related to patient quality and safety. Advises and mentors clinical nurse leaders and members of the systemwide Nursing Quality & Safety Council and Event Based Nursing Peer Review.

  • Collaborates with organizational leaders and key stakeholders in the design and direction of a quality and safety program(s) and initiatives that are data driven, evidence-based and outcome focused.

  • Oversees and performs departmental budget planning and manages budgets for numerous departments within the Department of Nursing Quality & Safety.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing or related healthcare field required, Doctorate preferred

  • Must possess either BSN or MSN in addition to the above

  • Must possess nursing certification. Seeking Nurse Leader Certification such as NEBC or NEABC required. Also prefer CPHQ or CPPS, may be acquired within 1 year of starting the role

  • Lean Six Sigma training preferred

  • Must possess DE RN license, or appropriate compact license

Annual Compensation Range $152,027.20 - $243,235.20 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
