Pediatric Research Intern

The Pediatric Teaching program, along with the PICU and pediatric subspecialists, are the home for the Pediatric Primary Care residency as well as the pediatric rotations for all UNC medical students. This position is a research assistant intern to help with ongoing pediatric research projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Pediatric faculty on scholarly projects including research and QI
  • Help collect data in EPIC to support scholarly projects
  • Using the basics of research design, work with faculty on project development
  • Assist in writing manuscripts or assembling posters for scholarly projects

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain practical experience in research methods
  • Develop skills in data extraction and using EPIC and EXCEL
  • Build professional relationships with residents, medical students, and pediatric physicians

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with research is preferred, but required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Respectful of cross-cultural differences and aligned with Cone Health's values.

Education

  • Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.Applicants must be at least the age of 16 to be employed as Cone Health High School-level interns (work-authorization required).
  • Junior, senior, or graduate student with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
  • Degree majors in biology, physiology, psychology, public health and/or intention to apply for medical school.
