We are looking for a Sr. Benefits Specialist with extensive knowledge of US health and welfare benefits and advanced experience with federal and state leave administration. The successful candidate will deliver outstanding customer service to the US workforce and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, while providing comprehensive support to the US Benefits Team.
We seek an individual with excellent organizational abilities, proven teamwork skills, and substantial expertise who will play an integral role in supporting daily operations in a fast-paced, dynamic setting. This role involves responding to employee questions, administering leave of absences, coordinating with stakeholders, and providing guidance on benefit plans and company policies. Additional responsibilities encompass troubleshooting system and vendor-related issues, addressing intricate employee concerns, processing benefit events, and COBRA subsidy transactions, conducting dependent audits, maintaining ACA reporting, and filing compliance obligations, and supporting the objectives of the Benefits Team.

Joining our team will enable you to support the continuous improvement of the user benefits experience and foster positive outcomes in the everyday work life of our employees.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • You will use your benefits expertise to guide US employees through different benefit plan choices and help them discover the most suitable options for themselves and their families.
  • You will actively identify and propose fresh solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce workload by continuously refining processes and procedures.
  • You will be the main point of contact for daily benefits and leave questions, using sound judgment to escalate complicated matters when necessary to help prevent negative user experiences.
  • You will foster a benefits team culture that prioritizes customer needs and role responsibilities, delivering empathetic support to promote employee health, well-being, and a positive experience.

What You Bring:

  • Education/Work Experience: A bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience with US benefits and leave of absence programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefit plan design, adeptness at interpreting relevant laws, and proven skill in addressing customer issues within Bio-Rad's benefits framework, regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of federal and state regulations affecting employee benefits under ERISA and leave laws (such as FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA), and expertise in COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA compliance requirements.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), SharePoint, SAP, and practical experience using Ben-Admin enrollment and leave management systems.
  • Excellent multitasking, attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills, in a fast-paced occasionally urgent environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, effective teamwork and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, consistent discretion with confidential information, and exemplary customer service.
