What to Expect
The Technical Writer collaborates with engineers and other technical writers to document the intricate details of manufacturing processes and equipment operation. This role requires proficiency in technical writing and the ability to efficiently capture information through notes, recordings, and photographs. The information is then transformed into clear Manufacturing Instructions (MIs), visual aids, training checklists, and maintenance instructions. These MIs serve as the definitive guide for assembling Tesla's products, followed by hundreds of production associates.

- Create comprehensive instructional documents on various factory topics
- Collaborate with engineers to document processes, capturing information through notes, photographs, and recordings
- Ensure consistency in style and formatting by adhering to detailed templates
- Address issues and questions promptly and clearly, both verbally and via email, during the documentation process

What You'll Bring
- Proven ability to create detailed process documentation to effectively convey concepts, ideas, and instructions
- Skilled in translating verbal information into precise written procedures
- Proficient in digital photography, including still and motion photography, subject framing, aspect ratio, and file management
- Experienced in editing digital images, such as resizing, adjusting resolution, enhancing color and brightness, and cropping
- Familiarity with developing technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple documentation projects under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Expected Compensation
- Associate Technical Writer - $61,200 - $91,800/annual salary
- Technical Writer - $75,600 - $113,400/annual salary
+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
