PROCESS ENGINEER (CFM56)

As a Process Engineer your responsibilities will include design, engineering, commissioning, new product introduction, testing, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technical support for industrial facility systems, process equipment, machinery, and various processes for an industry-leading Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul organization for gas turbine engines and components.

What you'll do:

  • Manage the planning, design, engineering, procurement, cost, scheduling, construction, commissioning and troubleshooting activities of multiple projects by coordinating effort with various internal departments, project teams, outside contractors and consultants.
  • Manage engineering projects requiring mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural, and chemical considerations. Prepares technical reports for internal use and for submission to local technical authorities for approval.
  • Deploy turn-key preventative maintenance plans, visual aids, operating instructions, and troubleshooting instructions for equipment where applicable.
  • Provide technical support and engineering ownership for various facility systems, machinery, and process equipment to support effective MRO processes. Including facilitation of failure modes and effects analysis or root cause analysis initiatives to prevent or resolve challenges.
  • Develop detailed cost benefits analysis and technical justification for project proposals
  • Manages budgets and timelines to ensure delivery of projects within proposed requirements.
  • Identifies and establishes improvement programs through root cause analysis (i.e., repair instructions, proper sequencing, inspection criteria, gauges, fixtures, machines, etc.), analysis of turn times, work in process, non-conformance tags (NCTS), material review board (MRBs), process interruptions, other line stoppages, warranty failure modes, field reliability of repairs, investigation of repair related field problems, line build problems, and subcontractor's repair performance.
  • Develops repairs (non-standard in conjunction with OEM, in-house engineers, and outside services as required). Refines existing repair schemes to eliminate the frequent need for in-process rejects and MRBs.
  • Owns, generates, maintains, and updates process instructions; prepares production routings and detailed repair instructions based on approved data.
  • Provides support and consultation services to business unit personnel and to the repair development facilities wit regard to the development and implementation of new repairs and processes or repair development projects.
  • Originates, revises & interprets technical drawings.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Carry out special duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • Previous experience in aviation, aerospace, or other related industry.
  • Practical experience with implementing and maintaining industrial machinery such as CNC machine centers, vacuum furnaces, balance machines, robotic cells, and chemical processes lines.
  • Experience interpreting and reviewing technical drawings, coordinating various trades, skilled technicians and contractors.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gas turbine engines.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine/accessory design theory, basic machine shop practices and basic gas turbine metallurgy; familiarity with engine manuals.
  • Direct engineering experience with the General Electric CFM56-7B engine product line preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Design and drafting skills (CAD), AutoCAD, Auto desk, Inventor, and Fusion 360 are preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • University degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing or aerospace engineering.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
