Position Summary:

Provide high-level administrative and technical support to the laboratory and quality assurance departments in support of food safety and quality objectives. Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of food safety, quality, and Quality Management System programs, documentation, and records. Support activities related to batch record review, product disposition, traceability, customer complaints, and audit readiness. Serve as a resource to quality assurance team members, internal stakeholders, customers, and auditors to promote compliance with regulatory, customer, and corporate requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Complete batch record review of various products, perform required data entry into management software systems, and review, organize, and file production records
  • Disposition products (assign/change status) in management software systems and obtain and/or issue certificates of analysis as needed
  • Perform and/or assist with root cause analysis and complete quality walkthroughs of the facility to verify corrective actions are completed; may participate in regulatory and customer inspections
  • Maintain company- and customer-required spreadsheets, records, and reports, including managing customer complaints through documentation, investigation, and preparation of customer responses
  • Prepare, organize, and present records as requested for internal and external audits
  • Conduct and document traceability exercises for raw materials and finished products in support of recall readiness, audits, and regulatory requirements
  • Support and assist in the writing, reviewing, updating, training, and maintenance of all documentation elements of the Quality Management System and related software
  • Educate and train employees on food safety, quality, and good manufacturing practices in accordance with corporate guidelines
  • Adhere to all DFA Quality and Safety policies and procedures, report any nonconformities, and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and auditors, to support quality, food safety, and compliance objectives

Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education related to food science, biological science, or related sciences preferred
  • 2 to 4 years of quality systems, food safety, production, or related experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment such as SQF, HACCP and PCQI certifications

  • Able to use Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
  • Able to prepare technical reports and procedures
  • Able to keep good records (record keeping skill)
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English


Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

This role requires the ability to primarily sit and occasionally stand and walk throughout the workday as needed, use hands for typing and handling materials, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with occasional time spent in manufacturing and laboratory settings that may involve exposure to temperature variations, noise, food and dairy products, food allergens, and cleaning chemicals. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering GMPdesignated areas.
