Maintenance Scheduler

The Scheduler organizes the execution of work while incorporating influences such as operational constraints, equipment criticality, labor capacity, material availability and logistics in order to complete the job by the scheduled finish date. The Scheduler is also responsible for the management of all planned work.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with and ensure compliance with all Worthington Enterprises EHS Safety Rules, Standards and Work Practices.

  • Keep in communication with the Operations Management, the Engineering Manager, Engineers, Maintenance Planner & Maintenance Supervisor responsible for job execution.

  • Keep appraised of work execution constraints.

  • Keep track of available manning levels and maintain work center capacities in Worthington Enterprises CMMS system.

  • Keep up to date with all work plans, particularly in relation to equipment stops, outages, shutdowns and specialist services for efficiencies in scheduling multiple work centers.

  • Keep track of Work Order priorities and status.

Prepare draft schedule for the Weekly Scheduling meeting by reviewing:

  • Planned work schedule looking for outages, shutdowns, etc.

  • All work with status of Ready to Schedule (RSCH)

  • Manpower capacity

  • Equipment availability

  • Contractor/vendor availability

  • Distribute draft schedule to all concerned personnel for review.

  • Facilitate the Weekly Scheduling Meeting.

  • Adjust the schedule to facilitate emergency work requirements (break-ins), changes in priorities and resources.

  • Updates schedule to reflect status of Work Orders before the weekly planning/scheduling meeting

  • Jointly establish the upcoming schedule and freeze the upcoming planned work, based on equipment availability.

  • Communicate and publish frozen schedule to the asset no fewer than three days before the start of the scheduled work week.

  • Develops information necessary to support preparations for weekly planning/scheduling meeting.

  • Report on previous week's schedule performance and publish schedule performance reports.
  • Work Order priority, including managing daily PM execution through coordination with maintenance crew leads.

  • Coordinate critical equipment outages with alignment/combination of work as necessary.

  • Coordinate work assignments with eternal work groups.

  • Facilitate cross-functional backlog review meeting and maintain backlog.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and direction in the usage of L2L (Leading2Lean) CMMS and work management best practices.

  • Work within systems that produce metrics to track planning effectiveness and schedule compliance, producing reports as requested.

  • Provide feedback to Requester/Originator of job and Planner where applicable.

  • Schedule and manage contractors as needed

  • Maintain backlog for Maintenance items that could be completed throughout the week or with minimal downtime

  • Assist with MRO/Stockroom efforts to maintain on hand inventory

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Certifications/Experience Required

  • CRL or CMRP Certifications a plus

  • Previous Planning and Scheduling experience

  • Experience Using CMMS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
