Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated individuals currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering to join Sealed Air as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op - Summer 2026. This position is part of Sealed Air's Co-op Program, which may include up to three sessions aligned with the university academic schedule.


As part of the global Research & Development (R&D) organization, this role plays a key part in supporting the development, testing, and improvement of food packaging equipment and systems, contributing to innovation in one of Sealed Air's core business segments.


This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience in a highly collaborative environment while working directly with experienced scientists, engineers, and application experts. You will contribute to active projects and complete a formal presentation to leadership at the end of each session. Sealed Air's co-op program is also used as a pipeline for identifying and hiring top talent for future full-time opportunities.

Responsabilities

Work hands-on to support the design, testing, and development of food packaging equipment and mechanical systems.


Equipment Development & Troubleshooting


  • Test, troubleshoot, assemble, modify, and improve food packaging equipment and mechanical components.



  • Support equipment performance improvements and mechanical reliability initiatives.




Design Engineering


  • Design new equipment concepts and components using SolidWorks.



  • Prepare and update engineering drawings and documentation for ongoing projects.




Testing & Validation


  • Plan and conduct testing of machines to validate performance and fitness for use in the field.



  • Assist with experiments supporting the development of new products and processes under the direction of experienced engineers.




Field Support


  • Assist with field installations and tests as needed.



  • Support application and equipment performance verification in customer or plant environments.



Qualifications

  • Completed at least1.5 years preferred (minimum 1 year) toward a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.



  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.



  • Must be able to handle and be in direct contact with raw meat and protein products.



  • Able to provide own transportation to the co-op location.



  • Able to work 10+ hour days in 40F environments as needed.



  • Ability to travel up to 30%.




Preferred


  • Knowledge of general lab and machine shop practices.



  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.



  • Familiarity with SolidWorks.
