The Department of Psychiatry is seeking pediatric health psychologists assigned to work in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service at CUIMC. This role will include working with patients with chronic illness, with a focus on organ failure and transplant, and comorbid behavioral health needs. These are full-time, clinical positions collaborating with the pediatric organ transplant teams (heart, liver, kidney and multi-visceral) as well as may involve work with other patients considering transplant such as lung transplant or bone marrow. The position entails treating patients spanning outpatient and inpatient settings. Primary responsibilities involve the screening, assessment, and treatment of patients including individual, family, and group psychotherapy. The emphasis of the clinical work will be on working with patients and families with potential for transplant. Clinical work can encompass pain management, as well as anxiety, grief and trauma related to medical conditions. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary pediatric specialty team. This position strongly encourages training or previous clinical effort in working in medical/surgical settings with ill patients. Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated interest, experience and training in evidence-supported treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Applicants should strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well across disciplines and function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Candidate(s) will conduct intake evaluations/diagnostic assessments of pediatric patients with psychiatric disorders and psychological distress in the setting of organ failure and transplant potential.
