Job Description

The Lange Lab at the University of Missouri seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist with a strong background in biochemistry and virology. A competitive candidate should be team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, reliable, detail-oriented, creative, and have a strong record of research productivity.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with laboratory management, organization, and daily maintenance.
* Work independently to design and execute experiments and maintain hard-copy and electronic laboratory records.
* Compile and analyze data.
* Generate and maintain appropriate laboratory stocks (plasmids, cells, etc.) and implement an organized data management strategy.
* Generate high-quality data appropriate for inclusion in peer-reviewed publications and grant proposals that support the lab's mission.
* Train and supervise laboratory personnel.
* Assist and participate in the preparation of funding proposals and manuscripts.
* Attend required weekly lab meetings and individual meetings.
* Present data and findings to research groups in the University and at national meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in a relevant field (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Virology)

Candidates will be evaluated on: proficiency in experimental design and execution, time management, data compilation and analysis, data management, and scientific writing.

Interdisciplinary technical skills include expertise in DNA and RNA purification and analysis, analysis of nucleic acid-protein interactions, plasmid engineering, protein purification, western blot, tissue culture, transfection, mammalian gene and protein expression analysis, and virus production and propagation.

Expertise in project relevant areas, such as HIV replication, vector construction and modification, aptamer selection, protein purification, mass spectrometry, and BSL2 laboratory practices.
