2026 Summer UX Research Internship

Your Role

The Information Technology team oversees our data & analytics, strategic planning & performance, IT infrastructure services, IT shared services, IT applications, and information security functions and responsibilities at Blue Shield. IT is a business partner that provides delivery excellence and leverages technology advancement to ensure Blue Shield is an information-led organization, in a secure, connected healthcare ecosystem. The UX Research Intern will report to the Director of UX Research & Product Design. In this role you will gain hands-on experience across the full UX/UI design process by conducting research to gain insight into user needs and behaviors, and translating research findings into meaningful product insights, personas, journey maps or digital mockups to help simplify complex healthcare tools and processes.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with an emphasis on User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction or relevant degree, OR a current or recent graduate of a UX focused bootcamp or certification program
• Requires at least 1 year of related professional experience, project, or coursework
• Must reside in the state of California
• Experience providing user research support, preferred
• Experience with Figma or UserZoom, a plus
• Experience in UI and Visual design, a plus

Pay

$25.00 per hour for Undergraduate

$30.00 per hour for Graduate

About Our Internships

Our paid internship program is thoughtfully curated to provide students experience and exposure to the health professional industry. Interns will be given the opportunity to get hands-on experience with real work projects, build meaningful relationship and connections within the organization, and experience our mission and enterprise goals through our program curriculum centered on our leadership model (Personal, People, Thought, and Results Leadership). As an intern at Blue Shield of California, you will:

• Participate in impactful projects during a 10-week internship program
• Undertake a 10-week curriculum designed to familiarize interns with BSC, leadership development, exposure to the healthcare industry, and more
• Be invited to participate in BSC employee events and networking opportunities such as Employee Resource Groups, employee volunteer activities, and more
