As a Field Specialist IV - Power Transmission, you are providing expert-level technical direction, troubleshooting support, and hands-on service to global customers. You are leading complex domestic and international field assignments, ensuring equipment is installed, maintained, and operated to engineering standards. You are training customer personnel, identifying operational risks, and delivering technical leadership to enhance safety, reliability, and performance in critical field environments.

As a Field Specialist IV - Power Transmission, you are being responsible for:

  • Providing expert-level technical direction and hands-on support to the customer in the operation, maintenance, repair, logistic support, and installation of Power Transmission equipment

  • Providing Project and Field Service Leadership with comprehensive and timely reporting on job progress, risks, customer issues, and emerging operational threats.

  • Lead domestic and international field assignments involving large-scale, critical, or first-in-country installations, start-ups, and major overhauls.

  • Traveling to customer sites, both domestic and international, to consult, advise, collaborate, and train customer's personnel concerning equipment operation, repairs, and warranty service.

  • Perform and oversee advanced repairs, inspections, alignment, commissioning and performance checks of Power Transmission products.

  • Verifying that the installation of new Power Transmission products complies with engineering requirements to ensure warranty coverage.

  • Providing technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment, including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions.

  • Assisting customer in scheduling maintenance and workload.

  • Anticipate future operational needs, identify potential risks, and recommend proactive mitigation strategies across large or strategic customer programs.

  • Maintain deep subject matter expertise on Lufkin Power Transmission technologies-gearboxes, couplings, lubrication systems, and alignment methodologies-as well as competitor equipment.

  • Deliver high-level technical training and mentorship to customer staff, junior Field Specialists, and cross-functional partners.

  • Lead on-site toolbox talks, safety briefings, technical deep dives, and operational coaching to elevate customer capability and reduce downtime.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you are:

  • Have an associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited twoyear college (OR a High School Diploma / GED with 8+ years of field service experience in Power Transmission, rotating equipment, heavy industrial machinery, or a closely related field.)

  • Have proven ability to lead field crews, coordinate with customer leadership, and independently manage complex repair or installation projects.

  • Have ability to read and interpret detail drawings, documents, specifications, and instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance procedure manuals, and the ability to solve practical problems related to gear repair equipment.

  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Have strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, mechanical tolerances, and technical manuals.

  • Have ability to travel extensively (domestic & international) and adapt quickly to demanding field environments.

  • Have advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, lubrication principles, industrial safety, and maintenance best practices.

  • Have proven commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
