GENERAL FUNCTION

The Credentialing Specialist supports the onboarding and credentialing process for new Optometrists (employed and sublease) across the Eyecare network. This role ensures timely and accurate completion of applications, tracks credentialing status, and provides high-level administrative and operational support to doctors and internal stakeholders.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Partner with new doctors to complete insurance, vendor, and internal applications accurately and efficiently.
  • Research and verify provider data using internal systems and direct communication.
  • Maintain and update credentialing databases with accurate and current information.
  • Track key milestones in the credentialing process; communicate progress and escalate issues.
  • Respond to doctor inquiries about the credentialing process and provide support documentation.
  • Audit and document credentialing workflows; recommend improvements to streamline onboarding.
  • Manage documentation in centralized systems for compliance and reference.
  • Assist with office readiness, including supplies, voicemail, and system access for newly credentialed doctors.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare credentialing or medical insurance
  • Familiarity with payer portals (EyeMed, Davis, VSP, etc.)
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple onboarding processes simultaneously
  • Strong Microsoft Office and database management skills
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and follow-through


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience in optometry or ophthalmology credentialing
  • Understanding of credentialing compliance and privacy regulations
  • Experience working in a Concierge or onboarding support function
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent healthcare or administrative experience
