| Job Summary |
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs (
VPSA), the Senior Associate Vice President (SR
AVP) assists in implementing the VPSA's vision and goals for Student Affairs, working in collaboration with the Student Affairs Leadership Team and other senior campus officials. The SR
AVP advises the
VPSA on a wide array of subject areas, including policy, budget, personnel management, programs and services, and community and legislative affairs. On behalf of the
VPSA, the SR
AVP oversees academic partnerships, co-curricular programs, professional development, and student conduct appeals while playing a key role in strategic planning and assessment for the Division of Student Affairs. |
| Minimum Education and Experience |
Master's degree with ten years or more years of work experience in related field, including seven (7) years supervisory experience and strategic planning. |

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- The SR AVP provides strategic counsel and advice to the Student Affairs Leadership Team. The SR AVP is responsible for overseeing and/or conducting research and analysis to address policy issues and action strategies that impact student affairs and provide counsel and advice to the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
- Represents the VPSA and the Division of Student Affairs on university-wide committees, councils, task forces and special working groups.
- Provides oversight for the planning, development and implementation of the division's strategic plan.
- Supervises the Director of Data Analytics, Training and Assessment, Director of Student Affairs CRM Training and Change Management, Manager, Information Technology for Student Affairs and Administrative Assistant II.
- Supports Division-wide planning and assessment efforts.
- Manages student conduct appeals on behalf of the VPSA.
- Chairs special campus committees and search committees for senior management positions reporting to the VPSA.
- Oversees legislative affairs and analysis for the Division during state legislative sessions and key intersessional periods and serves as a liaison to the Vice-President for Public Affairs regarding legislative initiatives.
- Serves as the Division's liaison to the Office of Audit and Advisory Services and ensures Student Affairs units develop and implement policies and procedures in accordance with routine and spot audits.
- Serves as the Division's liaison to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and works to secure private funding to support Student Affairs programs and initiatives.
- Oversees staff engagement offerings and Student Affairs' staff awards and recognition programs.
- Manages the Division's new staff onboarding program.
- Coordinates and communicates with faculty and Academic Affairs professionals to implement curricula, programs, and Academic Affairs and Student Affairs initiatives.
- Assists the division in establishing student learning outcomes that are aligned with academic outcomes.
- Coordinates higher education internship programs, identifying opportunities for student affairs graduate students from regional institutions to assist the Division with program development, implementation, and assessment efforts in exchange for course credit. Conducts routine assessment of co-curricular and internship programs.
- Facilitates outreach efforts for the Division of Student Affairs, including secondary education programs and recruitment and awareness initiatives.
- Identifies collaborative grant and research opportunities between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
- Chairs the committee for the UTD Green Fee and provides oversight for the allocation and distribution of funds.
- This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is therefore held to required reporting requirements.
