MaineHealth Cancer Care is seeking a General Hematologist/Oncologist to join the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at its Belfast location. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Belfast practice and MaineHealth Waldo County General Hospital are located in Belfast, Maine; a family-friendly historic and scenic coastal town that is the county seat of Waldo County. Belfast is known for its arts scene and access to outdoor activities, including the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Rail Trail. Belfast attracts visitors from throughout New England and beyond, has access outstanding schools including the University of Maine Rockland Center, and is within easy driving distance of popular attractions including the towns of Camden and Bar Harbor as well as Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in an established hematology and medical oncology practice affiliated with the MaineHealth Waldo County General Hospital, an integral part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. Hematologists/oncologists within the practice evaluate and treat patients with a range of hematologic and oncologic conditions, supported by specialists throughout the MaineHealth system. Participation in subspecialty, system-wide multidisciplinary tumor boards is encouraged; a 1 day/week subspecialty clinic at the nearby Penobscot Bay Medical Center/MaineHealth Rockport Cancer Care location is available for those with subspecialty interest.

MaineHealth is a nationally recognized integrated care system that delivers highly coordinated, state-of-the-art, cancer and hematology care across a network that cares for 7,600 new cancer patients each year. The cancer and hematology programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across the state of Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with the Tufts University School of Medicine and include a fellowship training program as well as robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups. Prior experience in oncology within an academic health system or academically-oriented private practice is preferred, although strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will be considered. Belfast qualifies as a rural site for the MaineHealth system, with a highly competitive compensation package, work schedule, and relocation support.
