Description

Leidos is seeking a Large Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Energy Advisor to support the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program. This role will focus on engaging large commercial and industrial customers to identify, develop, and implement energy efficiency projects that reduce energy consumption and support decarbonization goals.

The ideal candidate has experience working with industrial or commercial facilities, strong relationship-building skills, and a passion for advancing energy efficiency solutions.

Location: Fully remote with strong preference for candidates located within 60 miles of the Ameren Illinois service territory (southern two-thirds of Illinois).

Travel: Up to 40-60% travel, primarily local day trips (2-3 days per week) with occasional overnight travel for conferences and training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage large commercial and industrial customers (manufacturers, warehouses, campuses, and other large facilities) to identify and implement energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Promote and support participation in utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects from initial outreach and application review through implementation and verification.
  • Collaborate with facility owners, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to encourage adoption of energy-efficient technologies and practices.
  • Conduct energy analysis and support energy modeling to evaluate efficiency measures and project impacts.
  • Prepare reports and communicate energy savings opportunities and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in outreach events, presentations, and market engagement activities to increase program participation.
  • Monitor market trends and provide feedback to support program improvements and evolving customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with commercial or industrial facilities (e.g., manufacturing, warehouses, campuses).
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, demand-side management, or energy consulting.
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction processes, or facility operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and recommend solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or client accounts simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for customer meetings and site visits.

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP)
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
  • Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP)
  • Commissioning Authority (CxA)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
