THE ROLE:

As a board designer in the Hardware Engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing individual projects and working in conjunction with the team that develops all first Si hardware boards, backend packaged test components, and systems for the AMD/Xilinx Adaptive Embedded Computing products. This role involves strategic planning, technical acumen, and working in a team environment to ensure the successful design and delivery of cutting-edge hardware solutions.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, selfdirected hardware engineer who takes strong ownership of deliverables and consistently drives work to completion in support of ontime firstsilicon milestones. You communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, translating complex design considerations into actionable plans and decisions. You are comfortable working across organizational boundaries, building trusted relationships with crossfunctional partners, vendors, and manufacturing teams, and navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and technical tradeoffs with sound judgment and adaptability. A continuous improvement mindset, curiosity about emerging technologies, and the ability to influence, mentor, and work effectively within a team are key to success in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Partnership: Develop and communicate hardware design strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Hardware Development: Drive core aspects of the hardware design process, from concept to production, ensuring high-quality and innovative solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and expertise in hardware design, with a focus on SI & PI.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Support management of budgets, allocate resources, and optimize workflows to meet project timelines and financial goals.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, qualification, pattern development, and characterization engineering teams, program management, and the NPI and production test sites, to ensure seamless integration of hardware components with the overall ATE and bench platforms.
  • Vendor Management: Work with external suppliers and vendors to source components and materials, negotiate contracts, and maintain relationships for successful hardware delivery.
  • Technology Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in hardware design to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven collaboration within hardware engineering teams, demonstrating strong selfdirection and reliable ontime delivery to schedule
  • Expertise in highspeed PCB design, including schematic capture, layout, PDN design, and multiphase power regulation
  • Proficiency with Cadence Allegro and Capture CIS
  • Experience developing ATE and characterization boards (Advantest T2000 and/or 93K preferred), including bringup, debug, and rootcause analysis using standard lab equipment
  • SI/PI simulation experience using Cadence Sigrity, Ansys Siwave, and HFSS; SolidWorks mechanical simulation is a plus
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python/C/C++); AIassisted workflow experience is a plus
  • Experience with advanced AMD/Xilinx FPGA and 3D IC technologies and package migration strategies
  • Knowledge of automated test equipment, device handling robotics, and thermal solutions for highpower devices is a plus

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
