Description & Requirements
The Controller collaborates closely with the CFO, firm executives, and partners to support financial reporting, analysis, and research. This role requires advanced expertise in accounting principles and tax law, including a strong understanding of applicable state and federal regulations. The Controller must be able to quickly learn and consistently apply the firm's policies and procedures.
What You Will Do:
  • Prepare financial reporting, analysis, and research related to financial performance and productivity
  • Manage the firm's corporate credit card program
  • Research and resolve financial reporting inquiries from firm executives and partners
  • Communicate with the firm's bank executives regarding cash management
  • Serve as a resource for partner and retired partner inquiries regarding benefits, payments, and employment verification
  • Lead the National Office accounting team and provide guidance on accounting matters
  • Review and approve accounts payable batches
  • Prepare WIP and AR allowance worksheets and related journal entries
  • Prepare sensitive and confidential analyses as directed by the CEO, COO, or CFO
  • Review sales and use tax returns
  • Review financial presentations for firm executives
  • Assist with the compilation and analysis of consolidated budgets
  • Support the CFO in preparing firm tax work papers, tax returns, partner K-1s, and tax mailings
  • Review personal property tax renditions across multiple states
  • Manage billing and assembly of 1040s for high-net-worth individuals
  • Review government surveys based on the firm's financial data
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years of experience leading financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions, with a deep understanding of GAAP and tax regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Current and valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
