THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is looking for a Management Technician to join the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Self insurance Division. In this role, you will perform technical work to prepare, review, and process workers' compensation self-insurance applications, reports, correspondence, and related documents. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Management Technician, you will be collaborating with management technicians, accountants, actuaries, and administrative support personnel to process self-insurance applications and annual reports. You will have the opportunity to serve as the primary contact with stakeholders, providing them with general information regarding self-insurance, the self-insurance application process, and applicable regulations. Work involves reviewing applications for completeness, entering information into the database, preparing complex correspondence, as well as identifying deficiencies and recommending corrections action plans. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contacting applicants to request information
  • Reviewing security instruments for complex self-insurance arrangements
  • Monitoring self-insurers' compliance with approved conditions for self-insurance
  • Identifying and troubleshooting problems with the Workers' Compensation Automation and Integration System (WCAIS)
  • Suggesting changes to clerical procedures for more efficient processing of office activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with the expectation of reporting in-office 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of advanced clerical or para-professional work which included the collection, recording, compilation, and presentation of office management or program related information; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. An Associate's Degree may be substituted for two years of required experience.
