Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Ink Technician for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Ink Technician is responsible for preparing, blending, and managing inks, primers, and adhesives to support printing operations. This position requires expertise in color matching, formulation, and inventory management while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor / Prepress Supervisor. This will be a 2nd shift position (3pm-11pm, Mon - Fri).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and blend raw materials for ink, primer, and *adhesive formulation

  • Formulate and tone colors for press runs

  • Maintain press ink supply and prepare materials for upcoming jobs

  • Manage ink inventory and related materials

  • Process returned inks and track solvent usage

  • Input data into PRISM system

  • Handle, store, and label hazardous materials

  • Support press changeovers

  • Maintain cleanliness of work area

  • Operate equipment including lift trucks and pallet jacks

  • Contribute to waste reduction initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • 2 years ink technician experience preferred

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in color matching and blending (must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color Vision Test)

  • Knowledge of PRISM, SPEC, and X-RITE systems

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Apps)

  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)

  • Understanding of safety protocols

  • Strong communication skills

  • Time management and organizational abilities

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must pass pre-employment assessment

  • Drug screening required

  • Background check required

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to climb, kneel, bend, squat, stoop and reach

  • Must be able to push & pull

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

  • Color vision discrimination (must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test)

  • Manual dexterity for operating equipment

  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Noise levels above 85 dB

  • Operation of complex machinery

  • Solvents, fumes and inks

  • Variable Temperatures

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts

  • May require overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • An additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.

Additional Internal Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate Core Values

  • Must be in good standing with no disciplinary action or attendance issues(Associates in Written or higher stage of counseling are not eligible to apply)

  • Must have performer or higher rating in last review

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency in production recovery situations
